Execution requires simply following a process -- i.e. for any required execution, there is some reasonably knowable amount of effort needed to complete. Original ideas, on the other hand, often require creativity, serendipity, etc. Thus, the amount of work required to have new ideas is unmeasureable.
It's been my experience that original ideas require original implementation. And since ideas appear in my head and execution happens in the real world ... execution is harder.
Sorry kent, both bad ideas and bad execution are easy. and vice versa. takes two to tango, etc.
The MBL guys are pretty happy that I showed up with a couple new ideas. The did all the execution, and rather well, but still feel I added a little value.
NOT to say that I'm discounting or minimizing yours or any other creative contribution, mind you. I'm very much on the side of the Idea Guys; anyone who's spent time with me will tell you how tiresome I can be about that.
sonoluminary, you should review the quality of your tools. With quality tools and proper follow-through this should not be an issue. (IMHO, PDQ, SLATFATF, SWF, DMZ, HAND)

Great ideas come easy to some people, not to all.
True. Except that the claim isn't about *great* ideas...

But ... see ... there's one of you and how many of them? Two? Three? Somewhere around the two-to-one mix that I'm seeing on this claim, vote-wise?

In my case it's exactly the opposite.
Execution is very hard, especially when someone has a thick neck and the blade sticks.

Gun to the head makes it easy. Guillotines too.
